报告摘要: It was conjectured that either quark matter or strangeon matter could be the ground state of matter even at zero pressure. The corresponding quark stars and strangeon stars can meet various astrophysical constraints on pulsars. In this talk, with a reparametrization and rescaling scheme that can maximally reduce the number of degrees of freedom, I will show that they can be compact enough to feature a photon sphere that is essential to the signature of gravitational-wave (GW) echoes. The minimum characteristic GW echo frequencies are of the kilohertz order. In particular, the echo frequency can be reduced to O(100) Hertz at a extended limit for strangeon stars.
报告人简介: Dr. Chen Zhang  received his BS in physics from Nanjing University in 2013, and then his MSc in 2014 and his PhD in 2020 from the University of Toronto in Theoretical High Energy Physics under the guidence of Prof. Bob Holdom. He then began his postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo. Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has published many works on the UV completion of Standard Model, quark matter, black holes, compact stars and gravitational waves,  among which two papers appeared in Physical Review Letters and received  worldwide media coverage such as Science.
